Editorial policy
We run a dispatch business, and our guides are written to be useful whether or not you ever hire us. This page explains how we research them and what you can expect from every number and rule on this site.

Who writes
Guides and calculators are written and checked by the BoxTruckDispatch Dispatch Desk, the team that books loads for our carriers. Until individual authors are introduced with their own bios, articles carry the Dispatch Desk byline. We don't invent authors, credentials or reviewers.
Sources come first
Every rule we describe is checked against its primary source before it is published:
- federal regulations in the Code of Federal Regulations (eCFR), cited by section, such as 49 CFR 383.91 for CDL vehicle groups;
- agency pages from FMCSA, FHWA, the IRS, the FDA and state DOTs and DMVs;
- program documents from the organizations that run them, such as the IFTA Articles of Agreement and UCR fee tables.
Each guide ends with a sources list showing the date we checked every page. Where a rule has exceptions or state variations, we say so and point you to the agency that decides.
Numbers and examples
Market numbers (prices, insurance costs, fuel, rates) carry a named public source and the period they cover. If no reliable public source exists, we don't make one up: we use an example and label it EXAMPLE, and we say it is an example, not an average. We don't publish national averages we can't trace, income figures, or promises about rates or loads.
Calculators show their formulas under the tool, and their defaults are labeled as example numbers to replace with your own. Formulas are covered by automated tests.
Companies and products
Facts about load boards, ELD makers, delivery programs, truck makers and other companies come from each company's own current pages, with the date we checked. We confirm a company still operates before mentioning it. We don't publish rankings without stating the criteria, don't invent ratings or reviews, and don't imply a partnership we don't have. We don't accept payment for mentions in our guides.
Dates and reviews
Every guide and calculator shows when it was last updated. Pages with prices or program rules that change often, such as truck prices, insurance costs, fees and delivery program requirements, are rechecked regularly, and the date changes only when we actually review the page.
Corrections
If you spot an error, tell us: use our contact page with the page and what's wrong. We check it against the source, fix confirmed errors promptly, and update the date. When a correction changes the answer to the question a guide is about, we say what changed on the page.
Guides and our service
Our guides answer the question first and mention our box truck dispatch service only where it is relevant, usually near the end. We cover options that don't involve us, like booking your own loads or running delivery contracts, honestly. We only dispatch 26 ft box trucks; guides may describe other truck sizes so readers can compare, but we don't offer dispatch for them.
Guides are general information, not legal, tax, insurance or financial advice. See our terms of use.
